    Hi Leif,

I think you might be the man to answer this question.

I am having an issue where sweepers are not projecting the same perceived loudness as the music. Visually, they look like they are equal, but there is a noticeable difference in the segs. These are brand new sweepers (we just relaunched the station under a new name), so I’d like to get this figured out.

If you were to look at the wave form of a sweeper vs. a song, the sweeper is right around 0dB, but not brickwalled, as there are still some peaks and valleys. They are lightly compressed and mastered. Listening to them without processing, they cut through and seem louder then the music. But there must be a frequency or something in them that is causing Breakaway Live to attenuate.

Could you shed some light on this? The URL is http://xnation.fm. Thanks!

    Hi Adam!

    What settings are you running?

    As requested:

    Preset: Rizzzz-ock
    Range: 82
    Power: 36
    Speed: 70
    Bass Cut: -5
    Drive: +.5 dB
    Shape: Normal

It has also been suggested that I am too close to the project and, thus, overly critical. Is this all in my head?

Good question 🙂. There may be something to it.

The Power control, controls ratio exclusively.

The Rock preset at Power 50, runs the Input AGC at Infinite:1, and Multiband at 4.0:1.

At Power 36, the Input AGC runs at 7.1:1, and the Multiband at 2.6:1.

That’s pretty light multiband ratio (Reference Settings is 2.0:1) but nevertheless, ratios multiply, so 7.1:1 and 2.6:1 is a total of 18.46:1. That really should not be leaving much dynamics.. I mean, 18.46dB to 1 means that if you input 0dB, you’ll get 0dB out, and if you input -18dB, you’ll get -1.0dB out. That sounds pretty close to me. 🙂
