    Hello,
    I’m having difficulty getting Breakaway set up on my Vista 64 system. I’m using a generic sound card (VIA Envy24) with optical SPDIF to my receiver. The sample rate is set 44.1KHz with a size of 16 bits. Upon running the initial configuration, I have to set Safe Mode to select SPDIF, and I hear the test tone. But on the next page, regardless of what Buffer Size I select it says "Error opening Breakaway pipeline for test tone output." The driver appeared to install fine when I was asked under Vista 64, and I approved Claesson/Edwards as a publisher for the driver. I assume you’ve self signed this driver, which should be fine. Any suggestions? Is something about Vista 64 or my sound setup the culprit? I have to say I was a huge fun of Octimax for Winamp ages ago, but I just discovered this today and it looks like it’s time for an upgrade 🙂.

    Howdy, Ty!

    Indeed, I self signed it. Quite a process to get the certificate and get everything to work! Before that, the Pipeline wouldn’t work at all in Vista 64! However, after that, I’ve never seen any problem with Vista 64.

    Very strange problem! Since it’s the pipeline that fails to open, that exonerates your sound card / spdif output.

    Could you look at the device manager, sound video and game controllers, and check to make sure the Breakaway Pipeline is properly installed there?

    Best regards,
    ///Leif

    The VIA Envy24 card was the culprit, I replaced it with a cheap X-Fi and the SPDIF output works fine. Must be something about that cards driver support, VIA is typically shoddy in that regard. Thank you and sorry for bothering.
