I am thinking of buying a cheap motherboard for the breakaway broadcast software to test it on my transmitter.

Is this motherboard (ASUS P5N-MX). With its hd audio, compatible with 192 khz sampling rate and ASIO drivers ? Cant seem to find it in the description.

    Greetz and thanx

This motherboard has a Realtek Realtek ALC662 audio chip which only supports 96k. So no, it’s not compatible.

    Indeed, not compatible.

Also, watch out! Some ASUS motherboards which have the Realtek 883 chip, actually have a relabeled 662 chip!!

An easy way to tell: If there’s just 3 audio connectors, it’s definitely not an 88x chip.
If there’s 6 audio connectors, it probably is, and most 88x chips support 192k. Check the specs on Realtek’s site: http://www.realtek.com.tw/products/prod … l=4&Conn=3

    Thnx both for your replys

I found another cheap motherboard. MSI P6NGM-L (50 euro, around 40 bucks)
if i look at the specs it has a realtek 888 soundcard onboard and is has 6 sound outputs.

Will this one do for 192khz and will it support ASIO drivers ?

Piraat, there are no onboard sound cards that support ASIO.

Most pro sound cards do, though! ESI Juli@ is a nice card.

ASUS Xonar DX is also a nice card. Less professional, but very good performance. Works fine with BBP for composite output.
