Loving the sound of Breakaway Live!!

Could you give it a listen and get your take on my settings?

Using CHR 50-60-65 no gain at 0.0

I know I’m playing oldies…but I think it sounds kicking!

Thanks for a great product Leif & Jesse.

It’s balanced over to the left too much, even that out. Otherwise it’s not bad… Kind of quiet for the amount of density you have. You could try reducing the final drive, and reducing whatever form of attenuation you’re doing between Breakaway’s output, and you encoder. You’ll get the same average level, with louder & more dynamic peaks.

Good to hear some more oldies stations.

Yeah this sounds better now. It seems like it could use a bit more bass.

Are you using Clunk:1 Slam:2 from the plugins page?

    I recommend trying it. 🙂

One thing I do plan on changing and talking about with Leif… is possibly retuning the Bass-EFX plugin. (I have a version of it that allows for total control of the algorithm that is basically the same in all of those)… If I come up with a good suggestion for him to listen to, we’ll do that.

For now I personally stopped using Bass-EFX because as nice as the super-low thud can be (most of the time), it generally takes away from the bass impact for 90% of all songs and playback systems. Not only that, even on reference-level listening setups… I’ve run into a number of tracks that it actually completely removes the low bass on. 😳

Anywho… my only recommendation would be to try Clunk:1 Slam:2.. see what that does to the bass. If you’re already using that, then try turning up the Bass level a tad in Breakaway. 🙂 Possibly turning up the Shape too (just a touch, not more than like +8 or it could get more muddy.)

Thanks Jesse. That is VERY interesting information. I sure appreciate you sharing your observations about the Bass EFX plugin.
