    I am using Winamp and Windows Media Encoder to produce an MP3 stream as well and a windows media stream.

    I downloaded Breakaway Broadcast and it works when I don’t have winamp running. If I try to get the input working in Winamp it seems to pull it away from Breakaway. What is going on?

    Here my normal usage:
    I use the shoucast plugin to switch between two inputs: the playlist and the line input coming from my production studio (live mic).

    I realize that I may have to sacrifice the playlist and just use the line input to allow Breakaway to consistently affect the signal, but I can’t seem the two (winamp and breakaway) to place nice with each other.

    I’m open to suggestions and perhaps I am doing it all backwards. Here is the complete application:

    Provide an audio stream (MP3 and WMA) to people that consists of songs and lectures that are currently loaded on the computer and then be able to switch to live lectures about 3 times a week.

    I appreciate your time,

    Dave

    Hi Dave!

    I believe understand the problem.
    Breakaway was never designed to be an audio switcher. What you’d want to change is the Input Device in Breakaway Broadcast, and leave everything the same, but doing so would mean you’d have to go into the I/O configuration every time (and take your station off the air for a few seconds).

    How about a nice old fashioned analog solution?

    Use a mixer (or just a switch box), feed it the Winamp output and the lectures. Feed the output of the mixer to the sound card Breakaway is listening to. Feed Breakaway’s output to a Pipeline, and then have the encoders listen to the Pipeline.

    For MP3, I recommend switching from Shoutcast to Edcast. Breakaway can call the encoder directly — please follow the instructions in the "recommended mp3 encoder settings" at the very top of the forum index.

    Best,
    ///Leif
