GuestI’m in no way, shape or form a "pro". I’m simply tasked with taking a not-for-profit/fundraiser, live play and make it sound good. So please, no flames at my obvious ignorance?
The problem (given last year’s experience) is that the various wireless mic’s get shared by different actors in different scenes. Thus, from scene to scene a different person and different placement of the actual mic happens. It makes pre-leveling the incoming mics virtually impossible for anything but (maybe) the first scene.
Thus, not as a solution, but as a crutch, I’m trying to find some dynamic compression software for the levels, in case I can’t reach the mixing board’s (Behringer SX2442FX) faders fast enough and therefore get horrible distortion and/or feedback to start the scene.
I also have the U-Control202, which gives me low-latency stereo in/out to my PC – and I’m thinking of using the aux-sends to bring that out to the PC and back in to the main.
Can someone help me figure out if any of the Breakaway-products are appropriate? Maybe the new "Live" version in beta? If so, does anyone have any tips/tricks/recommendations?
Very much appreciate any ideas, links, etc.
Thanks in advance,

KeymasterBreakaway Live could work!
I’ve never heard of an U-Control202 (and a google search yielded ONE match — another post by you!) but assuming it’s an asio sound card, you should be able get very low latency.
Feedback could be an issue.
You could use a combination of 3 things:
Range Control, Power Control, and adjusting the actual microphone gains on the mixer
..to yield acceptable gain ranges while staying out of feedback.
As for preset, i would try one of the two Microphone presets 🙂.
Best regards,

GuestCool. I very much appreciate the reply!
FWIW: The USB I/O device is the Beheringer "U-Control UCA202" http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/UCA202.aspx.
I’ll give it a try and post my results. Maybe it’ll help your (is it yours?) beta product.
Thanks again!

KeymasterIt’s mine indeed 😉. Painstakingly wrote every line of code.. and many lines of code it is.
Looking forward to hearing your results!

GuestHey, that’s the sound card I’ve been using with Breakaway for months now.
