For some reason on my windows 11 computer the menu for BAE would not open. It does not output anything aswell. I have tried reinstalling many times as well as running as administrator. However all the options I’ve tried doesn’t seem to work. Along with the menu not opening I cannot hear anything when switching my audio drivers to pipeline. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Have you also installed the Pipeline? BAE needs it to run.
Run the Config program and select “Wizard”. Select your sound device and then click the “Test” button. If you hear a test tone, BAE is recognising your device and is able to output to it. Complete the config and check if there is the BAE “orb” icon in the systray. If it is there, click on it and the main window should open.

Hmm, I don’t have Windows 11 yet and this is the first I’ve seen of this problem. However, it might be worth trying to run the app in compatibility mode for an older version of Windows.

What happens if you uninstall Pipeline before running BAE? You should get a box popping up telling you to install Breakaway Pipeline that floats over all other windows.

It might be useful to say what version of 11 is currently running, in case an update messed something up.

Hi thanks for your, reply. However I don’t get what you mean by the config program. If you are talking about the menu that opens whenever you open BAE, that does not show up for me. And yes I do have the Pipeline installed. If that isn’t the config program. Could you please inform me where I could locate the Config program. Thanks!

Hi thanks for your reply. I have tried to change compatibility to windows 8, aswell as uninstalling Pipeline before running BAE, and yes the box does appear. Once I reinstall pipeline and run BAE still nothing seems to happen ( still in windows 8 compatibility ) .

I am running BAE perfectly on Windows 11, so compatibility mode should not be required. However, currently it is 32 bit application (changing soon), so it will install in “Program Files (x86)” folder.

When you run BAE for the first time, it should display a “Breakaway Audio Setup Wizard”, because you need to set up your input and output devices. You can always get back to the same wizard by right clicking on the Breakaway symbol on the main screen and selecting “Settings”.

If you are not getting the wizard launch, I suspect that you might have a copy of the Pipeline “stuck”. Click on Windows symbol > All Apps > Breakaway Pipeline > Uninstall Breakaway Pipeline.
Once it has uninstalled, go into Device Manager > Sound, Video and Game Controllers, find “Breakaway Pipeline”, right click and uninstall each incidence of it.

I’d then download a fresh copy of BAE 1.44 from the Claesonedwards website (in case yours is corrupted) and start all over again. Once BAE installs, the very first thing it should do is run the Wizard.

Oh! So the GUI is at least functioning. That was what my suggestion was to find out. If the GUI was somehow not rendering, that warning about not having pipeline installed wouldn’t show up.

Frankly, I don’t have it installed fully right now as it requires Breakaway Pipeline; and I worry it’ll conflict with my existing VAC installation if I do install it. If I could figure out how to trick Breakaway into thinking my official VAC is the Breakaway Pipeline fork, I’d be able to help further.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have tried uninstalling pipeline and removing all audio drivers from my computer. However that didn’t work, as well as you mentioned about right clicking the main screen, do you mean rightclicking on the breakaway icon on my start menu or the application itself, because I’ve tried both and I don’t seem to see a ‘Settings’ option. If you are talking about right clicking from the breakaway menu, I cannot access the menu as once I open the bae application. Nothing opens, however when I ran it without pipeline the menu for installing pipeline does appear. Pipeline is working fine however I can’t seem to get back into the wizard menu for BAE

So, after you went through the installation process, you did not get presented with a “Wizard” to walk you through selecting input and output options?

If it is running, but without the main screen open, it will show as a green “orb” in the systray. You can right click on the orb and select “Open Main Window”.

When that opens, a similar orb with “Breakaway” under it shows as a logo. If you hover over that and right click, you get the “settings” option which will take you back to the Wizard.

BTW, do you have any anti-virus software running? Not sure if this is the problem, but I would pause that whilst trying to resolve this problem.
