I noticed when using breakaway in the taskbar, it disables the taskbar’s transparency. Is there something that can be done to fix this or is it a vista issue?

It’s a known Breakaway toolbar issue — it doesn’t implement transparency the way it needs to for Vista to support a transparent taskbar.

I will try to implement vista transparency for the toolbar at some point. Luckily, in all the months since release, you’re the only person to mention it so far 🙂.

hehe cool… it’s no major issue. Reading up on it, it seems itunes and winamp have the same problem too, so it looks like a common thing for Vista.

Indeed.. In vista, there are two different interfaces for toolbars to implement.. One is backwards compatible (same as XP, 2000), the other is vista only. The first one does not support transparency. If you implement only the first one, it works in all operating systems, but vista then disables transparency for the whole taskbar if you use it (since it wouldn’t look very good to have a single non-transparent object on the otherwise transparent taskbar).

If Windows 7 turns out to be worth the effort, I’ll definitely implement the new interface, but with Vista being such a dog anyway, it seems like more trouble than it’s worth. As long as the audio itself works in Vista, I’m happy. 😉
