Best lossy codec to choose

Experimenting with different lossy codecs to determine which produces the best audio quality, not taking compatibility in to the equation. Ogg Opus and Ogg Vorbis seem to only go up to 256 kbps in Breakaway One. Interested to hear what lossy codec people think sounds best at highest bit rates. Opus, Vorbis even at 256 kbps and AAC 320 kbps on paper should be front runners.
