October 30, 2013 at 11:31 am #13685Peter TateParticipantIt's VERY hard to get clean anything with mp3's as source files Matt. Just trust your ears and be VERY fussy on what you put to air. Agressive processing is actually fatiguing! That's not good for long term listening!

[/quote]Yes i am always looking to improve, thing is as my station has quite a few djs most of the time you wouldnt here my set up unless stated
Basically i need to be able to sound good playing dance and 80s music, whilst beight fairly loud as a lot of the others seem to come louder than me and the listeners say im quiet?
Now it seems louder ever thou the settings are lower? baffled lol
I have licences for live and broadcast so would love to know the best way to set everything
Many thanks
Matt

November 1, 2013 at 7:38 pm #13690dancemusicradioParticipantare the other djs using breakaway as well? if you want to be loud i suggest either. new york, amsterdam, cleveland, point blank, eruption, plutonium is also a popular one, change the settings around, listen and tweak, note i use the broadcast version but i imagine the suggested presets are in live as well
November 2, 2013 at 12:16 am #13691mattjay101MemberHi
No none of the others use breakaway and I am also using broadcast as live is really quiet I find
So it's all the settings I'm looking for really that someone else is using or basically just hit and miss ?
MattNovember 2, 2013 at 2:39 am #13692dancemusicradioParticipantwell try the presets i suggested and play with the settings, the final drive will need to be turned up or down depending on the preset
November 2, 2013 at 9:26 am #13693mattjay101MemberBack to chr lol i keep coming back to this

The presets in the upcoming Breakaway products are going to be decently more quiet for the FM/AM versions, since they can always be doubled in loudness by increasing drive. The presets for Live, DJ, Basic (formerly known as Audio Enhancer), and Home Theater, will all have much less signal levels into the final limiters as a default. If one (like me) hates peak control, the closest they can get now with the current presets is:
preset: Reference (take your pick/preference)
range: 25
power: 100
speed: 15
and to use Reference Jazz if it sounds too processed for your needs. use Reference Settings if it doesn't sound processed enough; but if you hate peak limiting, you probably won't like the increase in sounding processed either. If there isn't enough AGC happening, increase the range slowly till it settles at the top when your (hopefully) loudness normalized sources are at their average relaxed yet loud parts. Be careful not to have too much range in the Multiband, or it can sound un-natural, and create an increased risk of not handling bursts. Some of the presets for the upcoming Breakaway products are very transparent, even in comparison with the above settings. 🙂
