Hi there,
just bought breakaway DJ on yesterday, since it’s great software, especially for me in karaoke sessions. I won’t have to adjust the audio level in silent music parts anymore. Also almost better sound as before – for house music I’ll have to test further.
But only one thing that ist really no good: The trial version plays advertisement jingles all the time. How can a professional DJ test your software at an event, if there is playing that jingle every hour? Even if processing is bypassed!!! Please remember, that it is impossible to deactivate your software since it is established via ASIO Drivers. So the music has to stop before. A DJ has to keep the music playing. So I always had to talk around that jingle on yesterday 🙁
It would be better to limit the trial version to one week or so and give it really full access for testing instead without any jingle interruptions. One or two events should be enough to get an idea on what it’s doing. Otherwise, I get the feeling, you are wanting to force me buying it. And yes, indeed I bought it during my event yesterday, but had still no chance for activation, because I had to wait for the confirmation mail that arrived today.
the whole point in having that is so that it CAN’T be used for actual production work. in the case of a DJ, this happens to be: playing an event.
we felt it better than letting someone use it (to also make money from it) and then forget about it in a week or month when the software times out.
also: playing a live event with completely untested (on your setup) software? even if it was Breakaway. hehe. gotta learn to really put stuff through a lot of proper testing before rocking it live, or you’ll continue to run into the unexpected. 8)
how did it go otherwise?
You can’t really test such a software at home. You need to test in the live environment, too. Yes, I tested it at home, before. But I did not recognize that there was this jingle. It’s like all other stuff. The DJ software, the drivers, the operating system, … There remains always a risc, that something will not work. But in this case, it’s really unnecessary and useless. Actually, I decided to test it at a less important event.
