There might be a very simple solution to this, but I haven’t figured it out yet…
I build a PC with XPPro, an SSD and a Marian Trace Alpha soundcard dedicated for Breakaway use only. I’ve installed both Breakaway Live (for streaming purposes) and Breakaway Broadcast (for FM purposes). I use both BL and BBP because i want to use different processing on the streams and on FM. There is only one soundcard, used for both input and output. Output is not a problem, because BL uses only Edcast encoders as output. The input however is a bit more complicated because I can’t (seem to) choose the Trace Alpha as input in BL and BBP simultaneous. Yes, the trace Alpha is running at 19200 in both BL and BBP but is probably ‘claimed’ by BBP because it is used for MPX output as well (is this true?)
So my questions are:
1. Can I do something smart with the pipelines or with Virtual Audio Cable that makes it possible to use the signal offered to the inputs of the Trace Alpha for both BL and BBP? Is there perhaps a software version of distribution amp?
2. If not, and if I ad a second soundcard for input only, will I be able to use it in BL and BBP simultaneous?
I really don’t want to use a hardware distribution amp…
[UPDATE] Tried a different soundcard, didn’t work either. It seems Breakaway needs the soundcard to be exclusive. Virtual Audio cable’s audio repeater does the job, just need to get rid of the pops in the audio…
