Quick question… We are streaming using Edcast as a Breakaway Live encoder and would like to be using the amazing EQ. Which Input / Output should we be setting in I/O configurations? Speaker Mode?

Will we get the EQ’d signal come through on the BBL encoders or does it only come out the soundcard?

    Cheers

The EQ is *after* all the compression and main peak limiting, not before, so it must only be used for speaker calibration — it should absolutely not be used for streaming, unless you’re not doing any peak limiting *at all* and you accept being quieter than any other stream. It’s a speaker controller, not a program EQ. There will be program EQ in future versions of Breakaway.

… which should only be used after careful setup and calibration of decent studio monitors. or really good headphones like Sennheiser HD-600/650 or Beyerdynamic DT-880 (or some of their new higher-end Tesla stuff). otherwise, you’re inevitably also compensating for your monitors and acoustics, in all but the best rooms with the best mastering monitors.

You can use the "DeCiSoft_Equalizer" DSP plug in. Install it in the encoder section before Edcast. I use it to fine tune the audo sound of my internet radio station. It would be a better option to control the output of every band that is processed by Breakaway…

    Is this DeCiSoft phase linear?

Another question I have been wondering about for a bit, how do you other radio guys make your sound so consitent using Breakaway Broadcast or Live? We have tried tons of Range and Power settings but can not get all songs to kick in at the exact same level. Should we run our feed via some kind of pre-process or is there a plug-in we could insert in our chain? Or will "undo" help us with this?

    Cheers,

Here you can have more information about the DeCiSoft Equalizer: http://www.winamp.com/plugin/decisoft-equalizer/87951

About your other question, Breakaway should keep your audio consistent…
