OK, firstly for AM it does not matter if you have a compatible or approved card, this is only relevant for FM as 192Khz samplerate is needed to cover the full FM audio range. For AM, this is not needed, any quality soundcard will do 48Khz is fine for AM.
Now for AM you’ll need to make a few changes as the defaults are all set for FM.
Firstly, go to Settings, then I/O config. Set the MPX output to "disable" and set the L/R output to your soundcard output that you will connect to your transmitter, then click finish. Go back to the settings menu and you will now see you have some nice options for setting up for an AM transmitter including the all-important asymmetry setting.
De-select stereo (unless you are running AM stereo), you will now set your Low and High pass filtering depending to your bandwidth requirements and you will need to set your tilt, set your HF responce and check the linearity (These are very important steps but require an oscilliscope). Instructions for setting these up is here: http://www.claessonedwards.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=54&Itemid=58
Hope this helps.
