Dear all,
Please recommend me some exciters for our radio station,
– analog exciter
– MPX input (for BBP 😀 )
– 30WI know only R.V.R., so i’d like to know your opinion for alternative options.
Thanks.

Does that have a composite input on it that bypasses all of their audio processing? If all I wanted was less than say… 300 watts, I would get one of these:

and then build my own amp for it. Saving the money for a decent antenna. They do make something close to your needs though:

Great quality, not cheap. Just the exciter, and building your own amp, and you’re probably still talking about less than $250 USD total.May 23, 2011 at 3:06 pm #12199Dj BuikMember

Maybe unknowns brand, but good transmitter for less money: http://www.pcs-electronics.com/cybermax … -1404.html
The new models come with optional ports for:
- USB port for RDS
- 3 BNC connectors for MPX in, MPX out and 19KHZ pilot
Info taken from their User Manual PDF.
May 23, 2011 at 3:11 pm #12200BokiMemberI think this one is around 1500€, but you must call to check.

Oh yeah duh… how could I forget about this one. This is the last exciter you’ll ever need. 8)May 24, 2011 at 4:31 am #12202peatgyMemberSigmacom is interesting seem to be good.
For BW broadcast, it is 100 Khz step, i need 10 Khz step (.75 Mhz).
Thank you.

Most PCS have PLL steps adjustable to 5KHz-200KHz
If you can electronics, get this one and box it yourself, 40W for 399. http://www.pcs-electronics.com/maxpro-5 … -1845.htmlMay 24, 2011 at 10:47 am #12204peatgyMember

Sigmacom is interesting seem to be good.

No problem, go for one of there boxed and ready to use transmitters: http://www.pcs-electronics.com/transmit … c-1_5.htmlPCS also have antennas and cables, all you need, and great service.
May 26, 2011 at 7:10 pm #12207sigmacomMemberIt depends on the performance you want.
The DDS FM technology is considered as a professional cutting edge solution.
Many ordinary exciters with VCO+PLL, can’t compete at the same time the noise and modulation performance of a DDS.
Also, none analog exciter can process digital audio directly. The "digital" PLL exciters with AES/EBU input, are actually using DAC internally – and then they do FM modulation.May 27, 2011 at 8:53 am #12208ModulatorMemberThat’s amazing! *drool*
But I have wondered.. how much does the bit depth affect in this type of application? There seems to be something like 14bit and 12bit DAC’s with enough MSPS.. I have thought about building a DDS FM-modulator myself 😛
May 28, 2011 at 4:17 pm #12209camcloneMemberyeahhhh, many hardware engineers say that they CAN MAKE a DDS FM exciter but their spurious and harmonics are going to planet mars 🙂
They key is the software that uses the DDS exciter 🙂
Sigmacom just MADE IT WORK perfectly and 100 % stable under any conditions! i ve seen it and it is a value for moneySigmacom , are u ok? i m comming to your city in a few days!

( i ve 150 mbps 18 km wi-fi link at -54 working with uptime 3 monhts, IT IS TIME FOR your FINAL DDS version 🙂
( also , 60 mbps 49 km wi-fi link with the second transmiter site stable 🙂
