Hi Leif,
I watched with great interest the video of the new Omnia 9, it’s going to set the bar very high for the others to follow, Congratulations.
I was also very interested to note that at least one of the new features may have been born from a conversation we had some 18 months ago, the MPX over IP.. http://www.claessonedwards.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=699The Undo feature sounds fantastic and the new MPX clipper is almost like magic and finally, at last, the legendary Leifcast is being released to the public. You have done a superb job, I only regret that as a mere pauper, I will probably never own one of these myself 🙁
Which brings me nicely to my main point, I know it’s been touched on in a roundabout way but I want to try to get some clarity over what features we might expect to see in the next iteration of BBP and which ones we might be left without.
Firstly, the 1st priority to all would be the MPX clipper but I understand that this really is the jewel in the crown as far as your work towards the Omnia 9 goes but in terms of performance gains and really unleashing the full potential of BBP, this is where it is..
Secondly, the MPX over network is a great feature which is obviously the fruition of the talk and work of the Breakaway STL we have discussed at length in the past, I would love to see this feature in BBP too, I also had to smugly take some credit for your comment about the "pirate version" and your reference to the comms authority raids, something which had not entered your thoughts until I pointed this out to you a while ago..

lost in the event of theft or communications authority raidsI had to LOL at this . Okay, I see your point.
Then there is "Undo", what an absolutely brilliant idea, a game changer in itself and the real suprise of the whole unveil, we were expecting to see the MPX clipper, we were expecting new GUI/Framework and possibly the STL but this was a total curveball and completely unexpected and the results, even with the poor audio of the movie clip, the benefits of it can be clearly heard.
Finally, Leifcast, this would just complete the utopian package you could make available to us, maybe as a reward for our patience in awaiting the updates, you have no idea how hard it has been, especially as we have been teased/tormented with the audio clips of "Passive Aggressor"..
If you do feel that some of these features are of higher value than the $299 price point, maybe some of these could be purchased as add-ons or maybe you could produce a "Lite" version and a "Full" version at a higher price point for those of us who would like to use the full package.
This may not be a popular statement with all current users but I most certainly feel you are due some kind of reward for all of your efforts and that there should be a small fee for those upgrading from the "old" version to the new, maybe BBP ASIO users can step up for free to "Lite" and pay say $150 to get the "Full" package. Users of BBP (non-ASIO) maybe $100 for lite and $200 for "full".
I have only ever deployed non-ASIO versions to my clients so I would be paying the larger amount in all cases to upgrade and all of my clients would get this upgrade paid for by me as part of their service agreements.
Even though this is going to cost me quite a significant sum to upgrade all of my clients, I believe that it will be a significant upgrade and I am happy to provide them with this upgrade at my expense as I am sure I will get rewards back in repeat business and new clients coming forward, wanting to sound like my other clients..You may ask why you should make these features available to us mere software users and I have the perfect quote for you, from a very wise man.. "Gewoon omdat het kan" 😉
Regards,
Yorkie.
PS, Please don’t forget Dayparting… 😀
April 13, 2011 at 8:11 am #12106Dr.JMemberSo you want all the features of a $10,000 box for $500?!? It never hurts to ask I guess 😉

My bad 😛All I have to say is… wait till you hear it with Undo & the stereo enhancer. I had already run the PFD mix & test through it, saved as MPX, but any "teasing" will be trickled until release. There’s enough momentum from PFD & NAB to last for months. 😉

July 1, 2011 at 7:14 pm #12114LeifKeymasterHi Yorkie!
The update will have a lot of improvements indeed. As it is, I’m planning two versions:
BBP ($299) – Free upgrade for BBP ASIO owners
Brand new user interface
Improved clipper, perhaps even SSB stereo support.
Separate Range/Power/Speed for the AGC and the Multiband section
Some kind of EQ adjustment (probably Band Mix controls)
Simultaneous KS and ASIO support in any combination
Separate low latency studio processing path with speaker controller
And more. There will also be upgrade options/packages. Not sure about pricing yet, but I will make it good value for sure.
For example:
TCP/IP Remote Control (can run on your windows tablet!)
Dayparting
Touchscreen-capable user interface
Can run as service
Leifwire STL
And more.As you can see, there will be a tremendous amount of improvements.
However, let’s keep expectations realistic — Breakaway is not Omnia.9. They are different products, different target customers, not to mention different price tags.
Omnia.9 should be shipping by the end of August — it will be $9,995 for FM+HD+Streaming+Studio version, and $11,995 for the FM+HD+HD2+HD3+Streaming*3+Studio version. Omnia.9 is not expensive (compare features + quality versus price with our competitors offerings) — it’s Breakaway that’s insanely inexpensive. As soon as physical hardware is involved, that’s not possible to do.
And yet, as inexpensive as Breakaway has been, people still ask for discounts! Maddening. I’m certain that if Breakaway was $1, people would complain that it should be free.
Unfortunately, living isn’t, and neither is hard work.

July 1, 2011 at 8:03 pm #12116AudioMemberAmazing! I shall be eagerly waiting on both the BBP upgrade & the Omnia 9! Both products are clearly priced right, for anyone asking for a discount I’d concentrate my efforts on the Omnia 9! 😆
Regarding the new box, it sounds like we’ll have to move our flaship station on the Omnia 9 and use BBP for the webchannels, I don’t suppose multi instances are possible on the Omnia 9?
Is the BBP release still planned for this month?
Glad to see you back on the forum Leif!
Cheers,

July 1, 2011 at 8:06 pm #12117yorkie98ParticipantHi Leif,
That is looking very nice indeed, I’m eagerly anticipating it’s release.
Would Leifcast also be one of the optional addons? A reliable webstreaming client is still something we are missing, Edcast is OK but not perfect.Keep up the good work..
Yorkie.
July 1, 2011 at 9:08 pm #12118LeifKeymasterAudio, multi instances are absolutely possible on the Omnia.9.
The full version gives you *three* separate program inputs, with completely separate processing for FM, HD1, HD2, HD3, Streaming 1, Streaming 2, Streaming 3 and Studio output. Each of the three streaming processors has its own leifcast, with multiple encoders for each. So, you could do your main station (with separate processing for FM and web) and two separate web streams, on the same box. The Omnia.9 has a TON of processing horsepower — even with all of the above, there’s plenty of room to spare for crazy new features in the future.
Yorkie, probably not, but a little bird whispered in my ear that it may be available as software through Omnia in the future, along with full control Omnia.9-style processing. If that little bird is well informed, this would take care of both licensing, support and marketing, and would free me to focus on what I do best — invent.

July 1, 2011 at 10:07 pm #12119wouterMemberwill there also be updates for breakaway live?
because that would be nice, and can we be able in the next version of bbp to build our own sound completely, so we don’t get stuck at the selected preset like we do now?
