What is the best sequence for the following DSP’s in the Effect Plug-in section?
- BASS-EFX
- Auto Balance
- Impact/Clunk
- Phase Rotator
- Attenuation/Gain
I think the Attenuation/Gain need to be first in the chain.
March 3, 2011 at 11:19 pm #11931timmywaParticipantJesse suggested this order for me (I don’t use all those):
- Atten/Gain
- Phase Rotate
- Impact/Clunk
I would imagine balance would go just after Atten/Gain.

Thanks Timmy,
So far we have this:
- Attenuation/Gain
- Auto Balance
- Phase Rotator
- Impact/Clunk
That leaves us BASS-EFX…
Where should i put it in the chain?Jesse, please give us your advise. 😀
March 5, 2011 at 3:40 pm #11933radiodiscoMemberWe need Attenuation/Gain plugin also with new Edcast version?
Thanks
March 5, 2011 at 4:32 pm #11934Dj BuikMemberI think you need to set the attenuation in the setup of edcast.

Yes, I’ve already set edcast to -3 db: I was wondering if we have already the new version of edcast, there is any need to load the Attenuation/Gain plugin?
March 6, 2011 at 6:58 pm #11936Dj BuikMemberI don’t have the answer for that. I think radiorio need to answer this question.
He is developing edcast further, and he is spotted on this forum too…March 7, 2011 at 10:42 am #11937kniggetMemberYes, you will need the attenuation plugin – this prevents overload to the Breakaway processor.
The Edcast attenuation is to lower the volume on the stream for when you are using low bitrates where overshoots are likely to occur.

you need the attenuation before any FX plugins in breakaway that alter the peaks in such a way where they can become higher. Such as the phase rotation stuff (includes impact/clunk and bass-efx). The exception is if you’re not running full scale digital audio into Breakaway. If you’re giving yourself like 12dB headroom, then you’re not going to be generating near that much additional peaks from having a few phase rotation plugins.
you don’t need the attenuation before any ENCODER plugins unless they don’t provide any built in attenuation. if that’s the case, do that after any encoder plugins that do have attenuation built in.
March 7, 2011 at 3:44 pm #11939timmywaParticipantSilly question… Does the Attenuation Plugin lower the input into the core or lower the output out to the encoder or whatever you set for outputs?
My understanding is it’s the latter but something from the way these posts are written made me wonder a bit.
March 8, 2011 at 2:47 am #11940JesseGMemberany plugin effects the sound exactly where it is within the chain, nowhere else. basically all audio plugins of any plugin format work that way.
June 28, 2011 at 5:27 pm #11941dancemusicradioParticipantwhich sequence does it go in? 1 is the first 2 the second and so on? or 9 is the first 8 the second and so on?
June 28, 2011 at 8:53 pm #11942timmywaParticipant1 is first then so-on

So where in the flow chart of the path is the dsp plugins? Audio > Core > DSP > (Encoder) > (Output)? Thus, my question if the attenuation plugin, for example, affects the audio after the processing or before.
Like this > DSP > CORE > (Encoder) > (Output)?June 28, 2011 at 11:11 pm #11944LeifKeymasterTimmy, that depends on whether you load it into the Effect or Encoder chain.
The Effect chain goes before processing, Encoder goes after.
