I had a flash of brilliance this morning. I thought, "Why not install VAC and see if I can record BAE in Audacity?" Bad move.
I’m running Win 7 Pro. I searched for VAC on my HD and found vac312full_breakaway.zip dated 1-15-2009. I unzipped it and tried to run setup.exe. Bad move #2. I got a BSOD and was about to write down the info on the screen when my PC rebooted.
I thought I’d better uninstall VAC and reinstall it. I got a message box stating:
No AppName event in file "uninst.ini"
I saved a log. It reads:

December 1, 2010 at 6:42 am #5318MilkyKeymasterHmmm, messy. How about a system restore to a point earlier than the install?
Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings > System Protection > System Restore.December 2, 2010 at 8:41 am #5319JesseGMembergo to device manager, use the "show hidden devices" option, and you should see it in there if the driver is still installed, even if it’s not loaded. if not, then it’s not installed. cheers.
December 7, 2010 at 1:51 pm #5320Bryan DurioMemberMilky: I’ve always disabled the System Restore function because of its unreliability, so that’s not an option for me.
Jesse: I found the Virtual Audio Cable device and disabled it.
Thanks for your help!
