Xmas is in less than two weeks now, should we hope for any gift from Leif you’d think? 😉
December 13, 2021 at 12:03 pm #16675MilkyKeymasterI can almost guarantee that your stocking will go unfilled.
I happen to know that Leif is entertaining family over the Xmas period, so I doubt that he will even go near his office.Once the family have departed in the New Year, there is some hope that his life will get back to “normal”.
December 18, 2021 at 5:35 pm #16676Peter TateParticipantHi Guys,
I’d like to offer the suggestion that advancing the current version of Breakaway One is totally locked to the End Of Life for the Current Omnia product that contains Lief’s code. It doesn’t take too much thinking to work out that Omnia wouldn’t be to happy loosing sales to a PC based product. Not withstanding the fact they offer similar too. Which is NOT lief’s code (i beleieve).
That said…. yes there are some things needing a fix in the current Breakaway One.
I upgraded from a duel instance of the old one. One instance did Streams and the other fed an AM txer. There were phase inverting functions in & out of the second instance. These were handy. But the thing that is missing in the Basic and Full AM cores in the new version is a Final Limiter. Since moving to the new one i get an overload problem when the content is largely talk and mono. Chasing this problem down it beoamce very clear there is no final limiter after the Multi band stage. Could this come back please?
I too would like a manual or some decent explaination of the functions. My current concern is Phase Rotation. What is it really meant to do? In AM transmissions positve peaks can be greater and voice isn’t always symetrical. Where I can i make sure the source files observe this.
On the point of more advanced versions being out there on dark sites. Yep might be time to get more trustworthy Alpha or Beta testers.
I’ve seen 3.19.52 and I wouldn’t pay the extra. I agree Breakaway is not meant for expert users. Leave the ability to royally screw things up to that other camp (stereo something). From what I can see Lief seems to be on the side of sound first. That other camp I feel he is a coder first and some one suggests they get. You need to have some one that knows where the line is…. Lief is possibly that person.. Hence why we don’t see new versions every 5 days…. There’s no need. Cheers All
December 19, 2021 at 12:13 pm #16677MilkyKeymasterThanks for your interesting thoughts, Peter. I cannot endorse, nor deny any of your comments, but I can say that Leif is still well and truly aware of any suggestions that come via this forum, as well as industry input.
Another project he was working on is close to completion, so let’s be positive that there will be some more activity and development in the New Year.December 19, 2021 at 2:03 pm #16678Peter TateParticipantThank you Milky.
Cheers
June 6, 2022 at 9:12 pm #16779timmywaParticipantJust another bump on this one.. 6 months later… Still nothing. Anyone hear anything? Whispers?
June 6, 2022 at 9:35 pm #16780MilkyKeymasterIn my last personal conversation with Leif, he indicated that he was out of (some of) the woods, and that he was in a much better position to start on some development. He may even be coding as we speak.
No promises, but, it looks promising.October 10, 2022 at 8:33 pm #16856timmywaParticipantAny updates on this?
October 10, 2022 at 11:45 pm #16857MilkyKeymasterNothing that I can report on atm.
December 12, 2022 at 8:43 pm #16907timmywaParticipantCan we confirm that 3.19.84 is the latest “legit” version that’s available? I know there’s other versions “out there” I just have this one and think it’s the latest. Let me know.
December 13, 2022 at 11:09 am #16908MrKloroxParticipantAFAIK it should be 3.19.43 from 2018/6/29
At least that’s the latest one available on the official breakawayone.com website.
December 13, 2022 at 12:49 pm #16909MilkyKeymasterMrKlorox is correct. Anything past version 3.19.43 is an illegal, unsupported version.
December 13, 2022 at 2:59 pm #16910timmywaParticipantI remember getting that version through Leif or JesseG directly back in the day… But Not sure why it wasn’t published…
December 13, 2022 at 10:20 pm #16911MilkyKeymasterThere was another member of this forum who indicated that Leif had provided him with a “special” version to overcome a problem. I challenged Leif on this and he told me that, if he makes a change, it is incorporated into the very next general release.
The program would be commercially unsupportable if he were to release “tweaks” on the fly for each personal request.

While true, updated versions of this software framework exist, and I don’t mean the illicit stuff. Let’s be real, BreakawayOne is a restricted/simplified Omnia 7/9… which is pretty fantastic, right? However, that software has been receiving updates in the 4 and a half years since the last BA1 release, and there’s no way it’s all premium stuff that only pro or funded stations could afford. They used to have patches and notes, but I can’t seem to find them anymore on the Telos website, but I seem to recall reading about bass clipper improvements among others. I’ve been dying to try out SolarPlexus and compare it to TrueBass (I love subharmonics).
As an outsider looking in, this appears to be something fairly trivial. Secondly, it would nip this “seeking of newer versions than 3.19.43 and ending up at a nefarious place” thing in the bud. I stand to be corrected.
This is a topic I wish I could send direct messages about, rather than say anything here. What’s happening is the Napster phenomenon, and I won’t elaborate publically. Leif is old enough to remember when this happened because I was using his software back then too.
