I’ve tried it on 3 different machines and everytime the BBP CPU load is slowly rising. Currently it runs on a HP XW4400 with XP Pro SP3, a C2Duo 2,4GHz and 2GB RAM. This machine also takes care of the playout (DirEttore) which only takes about 5-10% CPU. When reboot the machine the total load is about 30-35%, but after about a week it rises to 55-65%! Checking the processes it appears BBP has taken extra CPU. Rebooting solves this again (only rebooting, not cooling down!).
Anyone noticed similar beheaviour?
September 9, 2010 at 12:53 pm #11374camcloneMemberI ALSO HAVE THIS …( but it’s not a problem for my quad core)
THIS HAPPENS ONLY WHEN USING THE LINEAR HIGH LATECY MODE .
After a reboot CPU is at 10, 12 % .
After one week or more CPU usage goes to 50 or 60% !Only when in high latecy mode ( i am not 100& sure)
September 9, 2010 at 3:20 pm #11375WoutMemberSame problem over here.

Can you do some testing on your problem machine then, to see if that is really true?If it is, I’ll make sure Leif knows about it.
September 10, 2010 at 1:10 pm #11377camcloneMemberJessie,
i made some more tests and yes , that happens to me only on high latecy mode ( in ASIO version using high latecy mode , tested 100 % now )
I have not tested the BBP versionSeptember 10, 2010 at 7:28 pm #11378Lee XSMemberI’ve actually seen this happen on BBP.

Which "flavor" and exact version did you test this on? What OS and CPU?September 12, 2010 at 12:59 pm #11380camcloneMemberOk,
my " remotely controlled 170 kwatt room " runs this :PER.558268 INTEL CORE 2 QUAD CORE Q8300 2.5 GHZ LGA 129.58 1 129.58
PER.650478 THERMALTAKE CL-P0220 GOLDEN ORB 2 18.26 1 18.26
PER.553904 KINGSTON KVR1333D3N9/2G DDR3 2GB PC10666 47.71 1 47.71
PER.522663 ASUS P5Q-EM 113.00 1 113
PER.305109 INTEL X25-M SSDSA2MH080G2R5 2.5” SSD 80 195.98 1 195.98very very stable with esi juli sound output
( analogue…again..becuse FM digital direct synthesis …. is OFF )i have no problem broadcasting with this for MONTHS.
no audible problems, BUT my CPU …after 3 or 4 ot 5 days of reboot …goes to 50 or 60% ,windows 7 32 bit
windows 7 64 bit
clean installs with only microsoft security essentials loaded and ultra vnc .
latest breakaway ASIO version with high latecy enabled and no DSP plugins ,
nothing else.anyway, it’s not a problem for my quad core.
September 14, 2010 at 1:07 pm #11381djscoobyMemberI Can confirm that too guyz , i had the same problem until i switched back to low latency..
after 2 days if i’m not wrong the cpu started to raise a lot but if i’m not wrong i had the system up for 15 days without a restart and it stays on the same cpu level (over 60% of course but still stays there)
I am not sure if it has to do anything with edcast but i cant test it right nowBreakaway : BBP Asio latest version
OS : win 7 x86
m/b: asrock g41 m3
memory : 2gb apacer ddr3
cpu: intel core 2 quad 8300If i remember correctly when i set edcast log level to "0" so nothing logs, the cpu gets lower than before…
But still cant help anymore cause the pc runs a lot of things right now and the cpu is already too hight to try… 🙂
I Hope these helps leaf figure this out…
If someone could test it so to be sure that edcast is not responsible for that would be nice…
September 15, 2010 at 5:47 am #11382radio oude stijlMemberIt seems that, no matter what CPU (dual or quad), the load goes to 50-60%. Has Leif been made aware of this and can it be solved?
I’m not going to touch my system and see if it goes higher than 60%, so: to be continued…September 15, 2010 at 6:19 am #11383JesseGMemberI have an AthlonXP 3000+ which makes BBP really go awesome on the CPU use. It jumps up & down all over the place, sometimes it’s even program dependent too.
I don’t know if I would complain about the CPU use changing dynamically, because some very complicated code from Intel is inside BBP, and it’s designed to optimize itself based on your CPU’s capabilities and overall use… to attain maximum quality. 🙂
Ahem.
September 15, 2010 at 7:58 am #11384AudioMemberWe have noticed the same thing here with BBP…
No need to shut BBP off and on again, just go into the Calibration screen hit test and the CPU usage will be back down to its lowest possible percentage for a while, check one week later it will have increased considerably, check 2 weeks later the percentage will increasingly be higher and so on… Could it be an issue with the pipelines instead?
I remember reading of a problem Leif could not reproduce on his system, that is the CPU increasing steadily until the audio would start shuttering… Somehow there is something to be looked at with this CPU usage. Luckily enough for us we haven’t had the audio shutter problem here. 😀
Any news on a release date for the new Breakaway updates or new product launch, etc? 8)
I remember reading of a problem Leif could not reproduce on his system, that is the CPU increasing steadily until the audio would start shuttering…
I’ll leave it alone for a while and will wait for whatever happens… 😕September 16, 2010 at 9:00 pm #11386djscoobyMemberToday i noticed a raise also on cpu even when the bbp (asio version) is set to low latency..
Strange…Can anyone comfirm that??
I’ve had again 60 % aporx. CPU usage and when i try to switch it to LINEAR mode the audio started to shutter… then switched back to low latency and all was ok but still 60% cpu use.. 🙁
Then shut it down and restart it and as expected cpu use : 20% at linear mode..
But in 2-3 days aprox. the problem will start again…Anyway if leif finds a solution to this it’ll be perfect..
Good day to u all guyz.
September 17, 2010 at 5:08 am #11387camcloneMemberyeap,
the same,!
I hope a new version comes soon from Leif,
to do :
1) CPU peaks
2) …. DC blocker , or low frequency cutoff from the final stage…
3) Passive agggggggresor preset for pre-proccesing….. -
