Exactly. Just tell us if this software will never be updated again or give a decent roadmap. We are paying customers who run a (radio)business on this software.
Hardware needs to be replaced every now and then but if it's for BBP we are stuck with Windows XP. That's not acceptable.
Tell what the plans are, if there are none just close shop and maybe give some breakaway users discount for omnia 9/xe.
March 8, 2015 at 9:55 pm #14029mpegfailsafeMemberPerhaps Omnia should really consider creating lower-cost software for mass use. It would be a win-win situation for them.
March 9, 2015 at 2:24 pm #14030timmywaParticipantI think Omnia's ProStream A/XE is right around $400… That's pretty dang low-cost, relatively. Stereo Tool maxed out is like $150.

And has absolutely nothing in common with Breakaway…?
. Stereo Tool maxed out is like $150.
I'm sorry, but it is $420 maxed out…March 17, 2015 at 12:21 pm #14032timmywaParticipantYou said that Omnia should consider creating a low-cost software option.. I answered with A/XE. Not sure how that's an incorrect response. Also, I wasn't aware of the full on price of Stereo Tool. Thanks for clarifying.
~$380-390 maxed out/ 349Eur – BUT – bear in mind that the license is multiple machine – one user, one machine – multiple users or one frequency.
April 9, 2015 at 9:16 pm #14034GuntherMMemberThese ProStream projects are not for FM use I asume? So it's cheaper to buy an old machine and run Breakaway on it, so far your argument, most of us run a FM station on software processing. But Leif is a smart guy, he sold us a 0.9000000000 version, not a full 1.0 so he doesn't have to upgrade it by law. So we are tricked. Thanks Leif 😉
April 15, 2015 at 10:03 pm #14035Djtek184MemberAlright guys, just got back from the NAB show in Las Vegas and look who I saw? The man himself Mr Leif. Yes, he is still alive people. We chatted for a bit and popped the BIG question….Will there be any future updates for the Breakaway products? Sadly his answers were the same. Says, he's very busy with other projects & just does not have the time for now….But, did mention he needed a vacation & would consider working on it after his break. So, who knows..??
Also got a chance to check out the stereo tool booth with Hans, great guy.

The fact that he still doesn't dare to admit Breakaway is abandoneware is getting ridiculous. I hope he will be at IBC this year.

April 21, 2015 at 5:27 pm #14038mpegfailsafeMemberI suppose StereoTool fills the gap for the time being in the $130-150 range for the web.
This has become quite heated, no?
Given Leif's intense involvement with Omnia, busy probably is an understatement! 🙂
You people crack me up!! Money thrown out the window? BBP still works amazingly every single day. The sound quality still outperforms most everything else out there without going to a full-blown hardware solution for a processor. Breakaway has been a great value. Would I like to see updates? Sure! But let's be real. Lief is not going to leave his sweet position with Omnia to go back to designing a low-cost software processor. Neither would you!!
Enjoy what you have as it still is one of the best processors money can buy.
July 9, 2015 at 6:27 pm #14041mpegfailsafeMemberBreakaway still is fantastic. I am amazed at the consistency with Live. Adjust a few sliders and BOOM.
I love StereoTool as well. I have battled with it for consistency, and with the dual multibands it is really getting there.
What really is cool though, would be to take StereoTool and bypass everything except the declipper, then attenuate the output by 23dB.
Then adjust the Range slider in Breakaway and run your favourite preset. 🙂
