You actually can use VL systemwide if you have AudioHijack Pro! Just drag VolumeLogic.plugin from lib/audio/plugins/HAL to one of the effect-boxes in AH Pro and there it is! You need a registered copy of VL, but apparently you have one.
And VL survived the latest iTunes-update to 9.2.1. Pfff, every time it’s scary updating.August 28, 2010 at 3:03 pm #4301LaneMemberJust checking in to see if there is any hope of a Mac OS version of breakaway being released. I’m not seeing any action there as of yet. I would hope it’s more than an iTunes plugin should it happen. I’d like it to be an audio device I play to.
Back to trying to catch that unicorn pony.
September 2, 2010 at 7:35 am #4302AnonymousGuestFor those running VL on a Mac I can say that it still works after updating to iTunes 10.0.
I get the impression that there will be no Breakaway for Mac. Hope I can keep VL working, both in iTunes and with AudioHijackPro.September 21, 2010 at 2:12 pm #4303AnonymousGuestWe want Breakaway!!!
September 23, 2010 at 7:41 am #4304AnonymousGuestWe ALL want Breakaway, but I don’t think it’s going to happen. 🙁
It would be a huge commercial succes for a developer, there’s such high demand for this. Everyone I know who uses VL simply can’t miss it anymore! I can’t believe that no one has filled this gap in the market yet!September 26, 2010 at 4:39 pm #4305godzfireMemberSo Leif, how much begging do we need to do for an OSX version?
September 26, 2010 at 4:47 pm #4306godzfireMemberI, like others, signed up here just to voice my strong support for VolumeLogic for OSX and how much it changed my life and audio recordings. I actually discovered VL when it was in it’s early stages and also one of if not the first iTunes plugin created. From there I fell in love with it and was glad to purchase a license, which I still have some 5+ years later.
It broke my heart when Plantronics abandoned the plugin. There’s simply nothing that I’ve found that replaces it. PERIOD. Thankfully, I stumbled upon the VL Wiki page and saw that the original creator of VL has continued it’s grand tradition in the new form of Breakaway.
As a faithful support for over half a decade, I beg you to bring this wonderful product back to the Mac community! I, along with many others, would be happy to volunteer our time to help test and report bugs for you.

You assume too much. 8)September 29, 2010 at 9:53 am #4308AnonymousGuest@JesseG: I hope soooo much you’re right. I only just discovered that ‘other’ thread about mac-support (totally missed that one.. 😕 ) and Leif was actually responding on that thread!! Didn’t exactly increase my hopes though.
September 29, 2010 at 10:02 am #4309AnonymousGuestSo there are two threads about mac-support! To be safe I say on this thread too: Please, please, please….
These 2 threads are actually the most active! Looks like a potentially very eagerly awaited application. 💡 😉September 29, 2010 at 1:20 pm #4310JesseGMember
So there are two threads about mac-support! To be safe I say on this thread too: Please, please, please….
I merged the topics. Please don’t beg.
Looks like a potentially very eagerly awaited application. 💡 😉
I think we all knew it would be from the Volume Logic days, and a fully system-wide Breakaway is much nicer. 8)But yeah, try to keep discussion to something other than just begging. Maybe any concerns about feature requests for OSX in relation to how the Windows version works that might run into trouble in OSX, etc. You guys are creative, I’m sure you can think of a way to contribute to the eventual outcome.
October 9, 2010 at 11:09 am #4311AnonymousGuestPlease don’t separate the 😉 from the ‘begging’.
October 21, 2010 at 3:18 pm #4312godzfireMemberSo any updates for us Mac users?

For an easy "OCD" compatible checkup…

You’ll see something there, if there’s any update worth knowing about imho… something you can install & use of course. 😀Otherwise… no. Leif has thought about starting a blog on the site. No promises, but that would really be the best way to get any insider information. Nothing Leif tells me comes with a "this is public information" "tag" attached to it… so I have to be very careful with what I say. Leif can say whatever he decides to, which could get you guys way more excited than I feel comfortable doing. (which is perhaps why I know things I can’t repeat in public)
Please don’t take it as me being snotty, or uptight. I’m just as addicted to Breakaway info, as I am to providing ideas to Leif. Mostly he tells me why I’m half loony to think of such an idea, but sometimes I suggest a real winner too. 8) And he tells me things about Breakaway that less than a handful of people will ever know. Something I still enjoy doing, and it benefits me directly without a doubt too. I won’t pretend I’m some selfless Mother Teresa of audio processing… SCREW that! 😀 I’m out to "win" in any markets/applications I’m involved with, and I’m taking most of my good personal secrets to the grave. 😆
Peace.
