yes..but why the big stations with excellent signal ..have sound aufull in that old sony car radio ?

I think that it has to do with the stereo pillot.
Maiby you should have the pilot at 11.2 % or more.
I did that and i am compatible with all the stereo radio car recievers!

I had the same problem in some sony radios in old Cars…

The cause is …clipper on the exciter.

disable any mpx limiters clippers at the links or at the exciters!!
and play at max 75 KHz…or less
MPX clipping is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.
( in most cases ) ( the shape of your signal becomes flat and some recievers lcok 1.5 MHz before your frequency
and in some recievers the volume is like ..bad compressed voice…when using mpx clipiping.

the resault :

…when i listened to my "old" "baaaaad" settings …my ears , ohh my god!
what was that!? 6 days ON AIR with that sh@@@it.
The cause of this huge distortion on MID and HIGHs was the exessive clipping with …distorted overdriven mids!
The problem was on the proccesing of sound and NOT on my chain (soundcards..tilts, cables.)

the end :

I lowered the clipping overdrives..
I changed the bass shape and drive.
i changed also the speed and power settings..
(I use an 7 band preset )

Still the loudest radio station in Crete island !! and legal! 73 KHz exactly .
But now it’s much much much cleaner.

Now you can listen for ..more than 10 minutes
( take care that 5 at 10 songs are bad recordings …so wait for 2 or 3 songs to play..) ( i still believe that 5% of distortion is becuse of the encoder..)
remember : i wanna be loud on FM so, don’t wait to hear a "reference" sound.
It’s still loud , very very loud… but clearer and bassy

JessieG one of your 7 band presets …is wowowowowowowowowow!! ..but i edited the settings to acheve loudness with more pseudo-dynamics than ever!!

I hear the distortions , i hear the bad coluring of high frequencies.

But this thing doesn’t sound like that ON FM broadcast.

I will make a seperate proccecing for FM and for Streaming.

i changed the bass shape becuse of zooming of distortion of bad recordings…
i changed also the overdrives. , i ve got clearer deeper bass and highs 🙂

Monday will be a very very very hard test day for me.. 🙁
bandwidth..cpu…who knows..
I will disable fast buffering start (on WMS) definately..becuse of bandwidth spikes!!

We are broadcasting at 71 KHz and we are by far the loudest ..thank’s to Leif!!!

i think there’s a bug on simplecast’s WM9 codecs/encoders .
after some hours the last band ( the highest frequencies ..simple..stop existing)

we are one of the biggest radio stations in coverege here in the greek islands. (greece)

i fixed it!!!
the problem was NOT ONLY the volume level in the streaming server..mixer..
it was on bass, it was on limiters..
it was messed up.. 🙂

now it;s clearer and louder than ever! ( time 3 am , saturday – gmt+2)
( i opened the stereo, we are broadcasting again at full power ) ( 60 kwatts with the antennas)
