KeymasterIt sounds like Breakaway is launching before Bluetooth has fired up, so it can't connect to the device. You may have to uncheck the autostart option in Breakaway and launch it manually after Bluetooth becomes available in the boot sequence.

KeymasterCheck the Properties for the device on your PC. Then go to the "Services" tab. You may find that audio is not one of the supported services for that device, or it may just be unchecked.

KeymasterNice to see you JesseG. It's been lonely in here deleting all the porn links.

KeymasterAny re-processing will introduce latency. However, it is only a problem if you are using a live mic, outside of the music audio processing, or you are playing audio which is synchronised to video. A simple example is, one track I have starts with the drummer counting in the track by striking his sticks together. If the audio takes too long to be processed, you see the sticks hit together before you hear them in the audio track.
I use Breakaway DJ, which has been optimised for high speed processing and ASIO drivers. Using this with a high-end CPU and very small buffers (something you tweak in BADJ and some sound card setups), there is no discernible delay.
If you are not using a microphone or videos, but simply playing back jukebox music, then latency isn't an issue. BA is NOT a plugin, but a stand-alone program which intercepts the output from your playback software, processes it according to your settings, and then passes it through to the output chain. It is important that you TURN OFF any other EQ in your software or sound card settings, so that the audio is only processed once. If you have a fixed listening environment, it is best to fine tune the settings and then save them as a default template. Each time you play that venue, you simply load the template at startup.
The trial version is free to try (it inserts an announcement now and then), so give it a try.

KeymasterI use BADJ in ASIO mode exclusively, and play almost exclusively music videos. Both the ASIO works with Ots AVTV and also any lag in the the lip synch is undetectable – even in HD. I have got a VERY grunty video card (ex gamer's), so that may improve the video processing. I'm also using an M-audio 192 PCI card, not USB.
Next time I have my Otsbox fired up, I'll take some screen shots of my setup.

Hello Buik, in my first post i have written that i use the Creative Soundblaster Z. That is i think a very good soundcard.
[/quote]SoundBlaster is an "OK" soundcard, but the software they provide with it is atrocious. If you don't need any of the useless DSP tricks like echo or reverb, uninstall it all and use the Windows drivers.

KeymasterMost modern PCs (especially laptops) come with factory-installed software to perform all sorts of "useful" tasks, such as notifying you when there is a wifi connection nearby. Each one of these tasks takes a little of the over-all system performance away, and, in most cases, especially with a dedicated playout machine, they are not necessary as they can be run on demand. Run Task Manager and have a look at the amount of CPU usage, and the number of programs running. Also run MSCONFIG to look at the number of programs that are launched at startup, when you boot the PC. You can uncheck them all, then re-boot and try your music system then. If that solves the problem, you will have to work through what is necessary and what is not.
Anti-virus programs can sometimes affect performance dramatically, or, it might just be a crappy driver for your sound card. Check that you have the latest drivers from the SB site, and also have a look at your video drivers. I have found that poorly written video drivers can interact badly with sound.

KeymasterAre you using ASIO? if so, increase the number of buffer it uses. Less buffers equals better latency, but it also means the buffer can run out if the buffer cannot be filled because of too much load on the system.
You might also look at the number of background tasks and "baggage" programs you have running, as all of these are contributing by hogging system resources.November 12, 2014 at 10:30 pm in reply to: Breakaway Broadcast Asio (Marian Trace Alpha or ESI Juli@) #13968Milky
KeymasterWelcome to the forum. I hope that this query gets read by the developer, Leif, as he is possibly the only person who would know which format has been encoded into Breakaway.
It might be interesting to ask the ESI Juli people what format they use, as it obviously works correctly.

KeymasterHi. I am sorry I can't answer your question. All Breakaway users seem to be in a "black hole" at present, with no information coming from the developer for quite some time. There has been mention of some new releases, but, I understand that you can't build a station on hollow promises, so, if you need to move right now, it might be safer to look elsewhere.

May 18, 2014 at 10:02 am in reply to: Starting a commercial FM radio station from scratch, is it possible? #13886Milky
KeymasterAre you talking terrestrial radio or Internet streaming? Streaming is a lot easier, but you need massive bandwidth to service a small audience.
Terrestrial gets to a lot more listener base, but is complicated by the licensing laws of your country. Basically, you have to apply for a licence, and put up justification (how many sponsors you could attract to fund the operation, how many listeners you expect, music/program format etc). It is a massive undertaking just filling out the paperwork. If you get through all of that, you then need to present plans for the studios, transmitter site, expected radiation patterns etc. It may well be that the FM spectrum in your area is already over-crowded (meaning there are no more adjacent frequencies that can be allocated). It is, in short, very time consuming, possibly expensive in paying professionals to carry out the relevant surveys, plus, you can't just get away with broadcasting from your bedroom on Realistic equipment. It all has to be "broadcast spec", from the play back equipment to the mixing desks, the entire broadcast chain and the final aerial array. This is why all stations hold on to their licences so tenaciously. Once the authorities revoke a licence, it is rarely ever re-issued.

KeymasterDo you need your mic to go through BA? If not, feed the output of your soundcard to a quality mixer, mic directly to mixer and then monitor your output at the mixer H/P socket. That will also give you a lot more control over your mic/music levels and possibly allow for alternate sources (such as a live performance) straight out of the desk.

KeymasterI’d think it was more likely to be a bad card, so you must try it with the cards transposed.
